Art Therapy

Art Therapy

Art Therapy is used as an intervention, which creates an outlet for children to express their thoughts and feelings, easily and comfortably. It is a powerful tool for helping children navigate the challenges of childhood and trauma.

Our Art Therapist, Judith Petros, has previously worked as part of the multi discipline therapy team at the Child Development Centre and went on to receive Art Therapy training in London at the Centre for Child Mental Health. With her wide range of skills she is able to provide the children with a huge range of support during the sessions.

A diverse range of mediums will be used in the art sessions, which include –

  • Clay
  • Magic modelling dough
  • Collage work
  • Painting with brushes, hands, feathers and leaves
  • Mandala pattern work
  • Masks
  • Stamping
  • Paper folding
  • Puppets
  • Sketching
  • Printing

Art is a very relaxing calming tool to support good mental health.
