Welcome to Hamble
Mrs Wallace and Mrs Caddick would like to welcome you to Hamble Class. We are a mixed class of Reception and Year 1 children. Our team consists of:
Mrs Wallace (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), Mrs Caddick (Thursday, Friday), Miss Salter (Full time Teaching assistant/HLTA), Mrs Peto (Learning support assistant and Teaching assistant) and Mrs Ager (teaching assistant).jane_caddick.jpg
Please do not hesitate to come and talk with us if you have any questions or worries. The partnership between home and school is an important one.
The children started with the topic ‘Digging Deep’ in the Autumn term. We are now investigating ‘Bump in the Dark’ and will move onto ‘Land Ahoy!’ in the Summer term.
In our current topic Bump in the Dark we are looking at nocturnal animals, finding out about their habitats, what they eat and what they look like. We have looked at The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark and found out why Plop the baby barn owl didn’t like the dark. We are moving onto Funnybones and Owl Babies as some of our high quality texts.
Have a look at the information and links below which can be used to support your child with their learning.

Books are changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We encourage the children to read a variety of books at school and at home. Reading and sharing books together is important to us. We hope to foster a love of reading in your children too.
Phonics is taught through the Song of Sounds scheme. We also teach the children ‘Tricky Words’. We enjoy singing in Hamble Class and use songs to remember our sounds and our tricky words.
Homework is set on a Friday and is due back the following Thursday. Homework will be related to our current school value and classroom learning or used to revisit previous learning that has taken place in class. Each term children are given a choice of creative topic homework to do. We look forward to seeing their homework and sharing them in class.
Please keep PE kits in school all week. Our current PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Please make sure all PE kit is named. We will send the kits home every half term for a wash.
Water bottles and snacks
Children are encouraged to bring a named water bottle into school each day. A fresh fruit or vegetable snack is supplied for break but you may supply your own fruit or vegetable snack if you prefer.
