Welcome to Hamble
Welcome to Hamble Class! My name is Mrs Corbett and I am now teaching Hamble class this year with the support of a wonderful team. They are; Miss Salter (Full time Teaching Assistant) Mrs Peto (LSA and TA) and Mrs Ager (TA). We are really excited about the term ahead, ensuring that your children have the best start to their education. Hamble class is made of Reception and Year 1 children. Learning in Hamble is practical, challenging and, most importantly, fun! Please see the curriculum map for more information and don’t hesitate to come and find one of us if you have any questions.
Our aim at Slinfold CE Primary school is to promote a love of reading. Phonics is taught daily following the 'Song of Sounds' scheme. It is a fun and practical way of learning and the children love the song! We follow a range of reading schemes at Slinfold which offer children a range of genres. Books are changed every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Phonics workshop PPT
Homework will be set on a Friday and is due in on the following Thursday. The homework will be linked with the learning objectives in class.
Each term Year 1children are also given a choice of creative topic homework to do. Their amazing creations are shared and celebrated!
We will have whole class PE on Wednesday afternoon and on Friday morning. We are extremely fortunate to have outside agencies teaching our children on a Friday. The children will need a named PE kit in school every week. We recommend that these are taken home for washing every half term.
Water bottles & snacks:
We encourage the children to bring a named water bottle to school each day. Please only fill with water, not juice or squash! We supply a fresh fruit / vegetable snack at break time but children may bring their own fruit or vegetable snack in if they prefer.
What a fantastic start Hamble class have had to the Autumn Term! The children have come in with a great attitude towards their learning. They have been thinking of the environment around them including the classroom, the school and the village of Slinfold. We are looking forward to the term ahead.
