Hello from Mrs Salter
Hello and welcome to Rother!
Things to remember to bring to school
Homework is set on a Friday and due back the following Thursday. Homework may be related to our current classroom learning or used to revisit and help us assess children's understanding of previous learning. It is essential that homework is submitted on time, to forge good habits, so the children learn the importance of meeting deadlines and, from our point of view, so we have time to mark the children’s efforts! We are very understanding if family commitments mean that homework cannot be completed on time – just please jot us a note or catch us in the playground to let us know. Most importantly, we do not wish for homework to cause problems at home. If you are experiencing any difficulty, please let us know, as we can arrange for the children to do their homework at a break time, under our supervision, if absolutely necessary.
PE kit (T-shirt, shorts, trainers/plimsolls, hoody, jogging bottoms). Our current PE slots are on Wednesdays and Thursdays but we ask that PE kit is kept in school all week. We will encourage the children to take them home for a wash every now and again!
Reading Journal, Reading Book
Reading Journals need to be in school every day as we use them to record some of our class reading activities. On a Friday, the journal will be collected in and it should have at least 5 reading reflections recorded. Do remember that we love to see parental comments in the journals too. We enjoy reading comments recorded in reading journals so please encourage your child to reflect thoughtfully on what they have read.
Please encourage the children to come and talk to us if they are worried about anything. Similarly, if you have any concerns, please do come and talk to us ASAP. It is beneficial to your child that we communicate effectively and the classroom door is always open.
