Hello from Mrs Salter
Hello and welcome to Rother!
Take a look at some of these useful sites for revision and homework help :)
Homework is set on a Friday and due back the following Thursday.
Year 5 will receive 1 piece a week and Year 6 will have two pieces. Homework will generally be related to our classroom learning and I would encourage children to complete it over the weekend, if possible, whilst it is still fresh in their minds. It is essential that homework is submitted on time, to forge good habits, so the children learn the importance of meeting deadlines and, from our point of view, so we have time to mark the children’s efforts! We are very understanding if family commitments mean that homework cannot be completed on time – just please jot us a note or catch us in the playground to let us know. Most importantly, we do not wish for homework to cause problems at home. If you are experiencing any difficulty, please let us know, as we can arrange for the children to do their homework at a break time, under our supervision, if absolutely necessary.
PE kit (T-shirt, shorts, trainers/plimsolls, hoody, jogging bottoms). Please have these in school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We do encourage the children to take them home for a wash every now and again!
Reading Record, Reading Book Hand in your Reading Record with at least 5 entries including ONE comment from an adult at home. Use the questions at the front of the records to focus comments. I enjoy reading comments recorded in reading records so please encourage your child to reflect on what they have read.
Weald Book Award
Yet again, members of Year 6 have enjoyed taking part in this year's Weald Book Awards. Take a look at the winning trailer which was created for the book The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. Scarlett, Oscar, Beth, Ryan and Thomas were filmed by Molly and the whole group were delighted to be announced the winners of the trailer category at the awards.
Please encourage the children to come and talk to us if they are worried about anything. Similarly, if you have any concerns, please do come and talk to us ASAP. It is beneficial to your child that we communicate effectively and the classroom door is always open.
