Last week, many children from year 3, 4, 5, and 6 attended a cross country event at The Weald. There were many races in which the children took part, with Thomas Welch and Amy Kenyon doing very well, achieving a position in the top three in their individual races. Thomas Brown also did well coming in 6th place in his individual race. Well done to all the children that took part.
The Year 6 played in a football tournament at BBH after school on Friday and Mrs Cole was delighted with the team who played really well with every match being incredibly close. We won 1, drew 2 and lost 3. Well done to Henry, Will, Reece, Liam, Ollie.
Thank you again to Mrs Cole for supporting the team.
Mrs Cole took Ollie B, Will, George, Reece, Ella, Tilly, Alice, Henry and Toby and to a cricket tournament last week.
Although we didn’t win many matches this was the first time they had played as a team and before our cricket coaching had started. As always we played with great sportsmanship and Mrs Cole was very pleased with the team.
Thank you to Mrs Cole for coaching the team during the afternoon.
Mrs Cole took a group of year 3 children to The Weald on Wednesday for a locality schools cross country competition. Unfortunately we could only take year 3 as Year 4, 5 and 6 were out on a school trip. We came 4th and Mrs Cole was delighted with the children’s ability and their sportsmanship. Well done to Declan, Deacan, Molly, Lou-Lou, Rowan, Paige, Monty, Ollie, Olivia and Sonny.
The rest of the school then came out onto the field for their sports day. The four house teams were all divided into three sub teams and they all went around the field competing in different events using their PE skills. The morning culminated in races which all children were involved in. We also had parents, staff and toddler races. I was very impressed with all the children as I saw and heard some fantastic, encouraging support from the children to one another. Well done to all our sporty Slinfold children! As you can see from the photograph Griffin House came first with 4178 points, Dragon were second with 4027 points, Phoenix were third with 3910 points and in fourth were Sphinx with 3711 points. Thank you to the parents, grandparents and friends who supported the children on Friday and stayed for the picnic on the field afterwards. It was a glorious morning and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. Thank you to the PTA for the providing the ice lollies which were very popular!
For the next 4 weeks there will be a scooter/skateboard park in the playground. Dan Fairchild will be setting it up and dismantling it and also supervising. It will be every Thursday night from 6–8pm. It is open for year 5 children upwards. Please bring your own scooters, skateboards and helmets. Dan has a few spare ones that you can borrow if you haven’t got one. Helmets must be worn. It should be fun so do come along and join in!
We had home fixtures against Wisborough Green on Thursday, but the football match had to be cancelled as it rained on Wednesday night meaning the pitch was unplayable. The netball went ahead and our team played very well but didn’t score as many goals! We lost 6-1. Thank you to Mrs Barber and well done to Ollie C, Tilly, Alice, Ella, Ted, Bryce, Amy, Charlotte and Sinead.
