Yesterday, the school netball team played against Shipley primary school. We won 6-1 throughout four 6 minute quarters. The school netball team is Amy, Izzy, Phoebe, Amelia, Thomas W, Beth and Aimee. Congratulations to Amy who got 'player of the match' award.
On Friday night, the school held a quiz night for parents and teachers. It was hosted by Mr and Mrs Hayers and consisted of 5 fun and challenging rounds, which raised over £400 for the school. Nine teams took part and the overall winners were Chalk and Talk; the teachers' team. Congratulations to Chalk and Talk. Thank you to the PTA for organizing it.
Earlier today we interviewed the new headteacher of Slinfold School, Miss Phibbs. We asked her a few questions about her thoughts on Slinfold and being a headteacher:
Cycle proficiency is where year 6 learn how to ride their bikes on the road safely. Last week all the Year 6 brought their bikes on Monday. We practised road skills in the safety of the the playground. For the rest of the week, we practised different skills. Finally, on the last day, we found all of us got level 2 - the best level!
On 6th October, Hamble class was visited by the fire brigade to show them how they put out fires. They showed them how they use each bit of equipment and the children got to ask the fire brigade some of their questions. As they were 'on call' they couldn't visit any other classes, but hopefully they will be back later in the year.
The school has a new way of adding house points. Class Dojo is a website which a few teachers have and every class including Rother where every pupil has a dojo character and every time someone does someone naughty they take a dojo point off. But if they do something good then they get 1 dojo point. Then at the end of the week every Friday, the house point people count up all of the houses' dojo points and turn them into house points and they tell them how many they got at the end. The teacher also has a pie chart that says how positive the class has been and the best you can do is 100% and the worst 0% positive. You have to be as positive as you can.
