We are Amazing Adur class!
2, 4, 6, 8, Adur Class are really great,
3, 5, 7, 9 we do our best all the time.
Mrs Collins (class teacher) and Mrs Barber (TA) support us with our learning. We really enjoy our whole school topics and do lots of exciting things like going on trips, dressing up and having visitors in our class. It makes school fun!
Our PE lessons this term are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We will be trying some new exciting sports such as Ultimate Frisbee, Disc Golf and Gaelic football. Please make sure full PE kits are always in school.
We enjoy looking at each other's half-termly. Topic homework where we are given a choice of tasks. We also have a weekly homework - given out on Friday and due in on the following Thursday which is linked to what we are doing in class - usually Maths, English or our 'Values for life'. Reading, spelling and learning our times tables and corresponding division facts up to 12x12 is also part of our homework.
Adur class has some great readers, but we still need to keep up our home reading. Our expectation is at least five times a week with recording, including comments in our reading journals.
Reading Rockets Challenge
To encourage the children to read regularly we have a weekly 'Reading Rockets' challenge. If the children read 5 times a week they move up the weekly rockets on a board in the classroom. If they reach the top of the board by the end of the half term (reading 5 times every week), their achievement is celebrated in worship and they are given a small prize. I hope you will support us with this as the children love moving up the board and regular reading has a huge impact on their progress.
Please put a short comment in their reading diary every time they read so we can keep track of their reading at home.
Snacks for break - As a ‘Healthy School’, Children are provided with water and fruit or vegetables for break time. You may bring your own healthy snack but please ensure pots have names on.
Water bottles - Remember to bring a named water bottle during hot weather.
Clothing - Please try to make sure all your children’s clothing is named.
Peace Garden Competition
At Slinfold School, a quiet place to sit and reflect is important to us.
Our peace garden can be used for prayer, quiet time and for when you may need some time on your own.
We have mirrored crosses on the walls to reflect the light, as Jesus is the light of the world. The wooden seats are to remind us that Jesus died on a wooden cross. We have scented plants and herbs to bring different scents to our senses.
